10th Annual Queerty Awards

I am so honored to have been nominated at the 10th Annual @queerty Awards! Thank you for the recognition. I stood on this red carpet for every trans youth from a small town like where I grew up. While many states are attacking our rights, we are still here shining. We are still fighting. We are still thriving despite it all. While I didn’t win my category, I am forever grateful and tonight was an absolute success.

I had the most amazing time. Meeting your icons can be nerve-wracking but everyone I met was genuine and kind and so welcoming. If I learned anything from this experience it’s that I belong and I am worthy. Get ready Hollywood, I’ve arrived.

Aadya Rising Presents The Pink Sofa Series: The Dos and Don'ts of Trans Competent Care

Are you a healthcare worker, mental health professional, or in the medical field and seeking greater knowledge about the Trans community and how to competently care for Transgender people? Then this educational webinar/fundraiser is for you!

For Aadya Rising‘s third Pink Sofa Series panel discussion, we are taking on trans healthcare. Specifically, we will be discussing strategies for providing competent, trauma-informed care for transgender patients for nurses, mental health providers, and other healthcare professionals.

We will be discussing the trans experience of care, and how it feels to receive care that may be harmful or insensitive to trans patients. We will also be talking with providers and health professionals who are trans themselves about tools you can use to provide non-traumatic care to trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming patients.

A resource packet will be provided to everyone who registers.

One attendee will have the chance to win “A Guide to Transgender Health: State of the Art Information for Gender-Affirming People and Their Supporters (Sex, Love and Psychology).”

This event is a fundraiser! Proceeds go to general operating funds and Aadya Risings Queer and Trans youth mentorship program.

Panelists:

Ashley Voltairine, RN, CCRN, holds a master's in philosophy specializing in bioethics, and has 6 years experience in a Neuro-Trauma ICU. She began transition 2.5 years ago and has been documenting the process on her Instagram @transnursehere where she offers advice and answers questions from the transgender community. She's also an amateur filmmaker with a YouTube channel in development that focuses on transgender and transition related topics.

Dallas Ducar, NP, is the founding Chief Executive Officer of Transhealth Northampton. The need to educate people about transgender lives and experiences is why he works so diligently to advocate for LGBTQ+ competent healthcare, equal social and economic rights.

Elizabeth Spoering (she/her), RN, works in healthcare process improvement, and improving trans access to care is my passion. Gender affirming treatment saves lives, including her own. In her free time, she is a wife, mother, rock climber, and urban farmer (we have a small flock of ducks and chickens). Ellie works with the Aadya Rising team with guides for trans people to help navigate the healthcare system, including health insurance.

Skyler Jay (he/him) has worked within the LGBTQIA+ community for over a decade and worked to greatly increase visibility, growth, and opportunity for Transgender people. He is most notably recognized for his appearance on Netflix’s Emmy award winning hit, Queer Eye; as well as his groundbreaking lawsuit against the Georgia state system to remove Trans* exclusionary healthcare policies. It’s evident that Rose puts a lot of love and passion into her work and many of the participants expressed appreciation for the advice she had to offer. Throughout discussions that ranged from bullying to navigating relationships, Rose was very respectful and mindful of others' perspectives while standing firm in her own beliefs and values. We are extremely appreciative of Rose’s work with us and especially grateful for her flexibility. Yale University's Trans Visibility Series: Highlighting Transfemininity in Modeling, TikTok, and Beyond

Yale University’s Transgender Visibility Series 2021 would not have been nearly as successful without the brilliant mind of speakers and performers such as Rose Montoya. Not only did Montoya celebrate the joy within the Transgender community in her engagement with Yale’s LGBTQ youth, but she also delivered an impactful set of resources on how to better support and uplift Transfeminine creators, artists, and people alike. As a proud Non-binary Latina, Montoya’s words and wisdoms were received by Yale’s Office LGBTQ Resources, La Casa Cultural Center, Women’s Gender and Sexuality Department, Ethnicity, Race, and Migration Department, among so many other factions of campus. We can’t wait to have Rose Montoya back again!”
